I first traveled to Portugal when I was 17. I remember each moment of the trip, seen with the eyes of the young and unexperienced traveler. I can even recall the taste of vinho verde and petingas that I would try along the streets with my fellows: everything was a discovery, every simple moment, an adventure.
Since then I have been coming to Portugal on a regular basis, three or four times a year, so I keep many friends here and nothing in this amazing country is alien to me: I feel a proud Iberian, and as many other dreamers, I wish there would be only one big country joining Portugal and Spain. I have to laugh when I see people trying to cope with Portugal in 7 days: Portugal is a surprisingly wide country, which you won't be able to understand unless you dedicate about 10 to 12 days, not to mention the islands: only for Azores you would need to dedicate at least 7 nights.
During the last 15 years I have run my own travel company and I have developed a wide net of vendors that help me put together consistent itineraries based on your own interests. I have sent already some thousands of satisfied travelers to Portugal, it takes only a bit of patience and a lot of hard work. Portugal is about the people and about the land. You won't really get the whole picture until you tour the small villages of the interior: the Alentejo, the Minho, Douro Valley or Serra da Estrela offer tiny locations where time stopped centuries ago and where important things are waiting for you to finally discover them.
It is only you who can decide to open the eyes for those valuable moments to happen in front of you. I can suggest the route that inspired me, I will love to offer you the itinerary that made me feel unique and appreciative of that magic moment that will stick to your soul and travel with you for the rest of your life. But the rest is on your side. You will need to put everything else...
