AZORES

Nine islands full of wild, uncontaminated nature that emerged from the ocean surface, formed as a result of volcanic eruptions. After centuries as a retreat for whalers and buccaneers searching for supplies or crew members, today it offers spectacular volcanic landscapes and hot springs in the middle of primary forests.

Azores has landscapes with endemic vegetation that presents an extensive range of colours, small charming fishing villages with narrow cobblestone streets, black volcanic sand beaches, and a wide diversity of marine species.

Land of long wine-making tradition, visitors are kindly invited to taste the wine as well as a selection of wonderful seafood which is not to be found anywhere else in the world : such as limpets, cracas or cavaco. Do not miss the tuna, appreciated by its rosy and very soft meat, which is still fished in the traditional way with hook and line.
